Edge of Difference Ltd

Last updated: 5 August 2026

At Edge of Difference we believe that trust is built the same way inclusion is: through openness, respect and honesty about how we work. This policy sets out how we collect, use and protect your personal data when you visit edgeofdifference.com, get in touch with us, or subscribe to our newsletter, From The Edges. It also covers the standard information required about how our website functions, including comments, cookies and embedded content.

Who we are

Our website address is edgeofdifference.com. Edge of Difference Ltd (company number 16488926) is registered at Preston Park House, South Road, Brighton, East Sussex, United Kingdom, BN1 6SB. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, you can reach us at hello@edgeofdifference.com or on 01273 044803.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. You can review the Gravatar service privacy policy at automattic.com/privacy. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, please avoid uploading images that include embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website are able to download and extract location data from any images published on the site.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience, so you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we also set up several cookies to save your login details and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen option cookies last for a year. If you select ‘Remember Me’, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies are removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser. This cookie holds no personal data and simply records the post ID of the article you have just edited. It expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, images or articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if you had visited that other website directly.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. We do not sell or trade your personal data. We may share data with trusted third-party providers who help us run our website, email newsletter and booking systems, and who are required to handle your data securely and in line with data protection law.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically, rather than holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website, we also store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time, except they cannot change their username. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we retain your details for as long as you remain subscribed, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

As a UK-based organisation, we handle personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. To make a request regarding your data, please contact us at hello@edgeofdifference.com.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, for example to a service provider based elsewhere, we take reasonable steps to ensure it continues to be protected in line with UK data protection standards.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page, so please check back periodically.
